Board of Governors

Westside Preparatory Society

The Westside School is a not-for-profit K-12 independent school governed by the Westside Preparatory Society

Since its founding in 2004, the school has grown from the original campus, now housing the Foundation Years Program, to include the Middle Years Program campus on Smithe Street and the Miniversity campus on Nelson Street.

The Board of Governors of the Westside Preparatory Society forms the motivational and conceptual framework that envisions, advances and administers The Westside School. The Board is firmly rooted in the core belief that people have the power to imagine, learn and create a better future. Our passion, convictions and courage animate our team and our work daily.

Mission

The mission of the Westside Preparatory Society is to offer a high-quality education that cultivates passionate learners, nurtures human relationships and empowers confident, balanced and principled young people. By promoting academic excellence through an education that is re-imagined for a changing world, our graduates will be well-prepared for success in university and in life.

Our innovative programs and creative curricula reflect the latest in educational research and pedagogy. We aspire to develop a world-class educational team through high standards of faculty professional development and engagement ensuring that the learning enabled in our students is of a consistently superior quality.

We believe that each child is unique and precious. As such, all children should be empowered to reach their potential through opportunities for education and enrichment regardless of their socioeconomic status or ability. To achieve this, we provide the means for all students to flourish and succeed and we intentionally keep our tuition fees accessible and affordable to middle-class families.

Vision

The Westside Preparatory Society aims to build a strong, innovative Westside team and brand with the ability to conceptualize and promote Westside in new directions to new audiences. Our vision is to make The Westside School a place where people, ideas and innovation are fostered within both local and global communities. We envision an inspirational and motivational school in which a love of learning and compassion for others encourages a life enriched by balance, purpose and meaning.
